My Facilitators Heart lives on the drumcircles list, and so does my
community, The International Drum Circle Facilitators Community. This global
internet dialog list was started by Bob Anzlovar after his first Hawaii Playshop in order
to foster dialog and discussion about anything concerning drum circles.
The various subjects that are covered have a wide range, such as:
- How long the groove should go
- Found and home-made instruments
- Disrupters and distracters in a circle
- Tools and techniques for drum circle facilitators
- Drum circle games
- Adaptation of facilitation skills to different populations
Also listed are drum circle related events all over the world.
WARNING: We speak Arthurian!
A large portion of the people dialoguing on the Drum Circle List, (around 80% ), have
graduated from different levels of the Village Music Circles Facilitators Playshop
Intensives. That means that these people are speaking to each other using the
Arthurian Facilitators Lexicon established in my Book, Drum Circle Spirit and now used extensively in our community.
The semantics used in this discussion among the hundreds of Arthurian School of
Facilitation Alumni, is a collection of words such as sculpting,
orchestration spot, and platform that specifically define
facilitation actions and techniques. The understanding and use of these words in our
dialogs makes our communication easer and clearer.
My suggestion to newcomers on the DCList is: If you dont understand a word or
phrase used by someone, dont be afraid to ask. We are all about networking and
helping each other grow. Besides, knowing the Arthurian Facilitators Lexicon
will speed you along your path towards better service for your community through
rhythm.
